Why Am I Running?

My goal as a prosecutor is to serve this community and keep people safe. I have spent the past fourteen years prosecuting criminal cases in Gaston County district and superior courts. Continuing to keep our community secure and our citizens safe was my first concern when making the decision to run for district court judge.

District court judges hold vital positions in the court system when it comes to serving our community. While high profile felony cases in superior court typically grab the headlines, most people who encounter the court system do so in district court. This means when you choose your district court judge, you are choosing how justice will be decided for thousands of your friends and neighbors every year.

Thousands of people come into district courtrooms each year in Gaston County. In the criminal courts, these are people charged with traffic offenses and misdemeanors, or who are juvenile offenders. In the civil courts, these are civil claims, divorce or child custody proceedings, and people seeking an order of protection involving domestic violence. No matter who enters into the Gaston County court system, it is imperative that the decision of the judge both protect the rights of the person involved, and ensure the continued safety and security of our community and our citizens.

Over the entirety of my career as a prosecutor, I have worked hard to earn a reputation for being fair, professional and respectful to every citizen coming in to district court. As your next district court judge, I will continue to pursue my goal of ensuring the safety of the people of Gaston County and serving the community that I have fought to protect for the past fourteen years.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and why I am seeking this position. If you share the same passion for community service and public safety as I do, I hope you will support my efforts to become your next district court judge.
